A native of Dayton, Ohio, and son of Willis E. Blackshear Sr. and Bridget Weatherspoon, Senator Blackshear attended Trotwood-Madison High School, attended Wright State University and received a B.A. in Political Science, participated in The Ohio State University Executive Education Public Leadership Academy, and is currently enrolled at Ohio State Fisher College of Business M.B.A. student.
Senator Blackshear was first elected State Representative of Ohio’s 39th House District in 2020, re-elected to Ohio #39th; elected to the 38th House District in 2022, then elected to Ohio Senate District 6 in 2024.
